NEW JERSEY MILITIA, HEARD’S BRIGADE $500 SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY The New Jersey Militia, Heard’s Brigade is a company of living historians re-creating the life of the militia soldiers and civilians of the American Revolution. We are pleased that you are considering applying for a scholarship through the New Jersey Militia, Heard’s Brigade in the form of an essay contest. ESSAY TOPIC: “There has always been divisiveness in America when it comes to war. Characterize the relevance of dissention and national purpose as it relates to our history today.” Submissions will be judged on style, content, grammar, and originality. Judges will look for clear, concise writing that is original, articulate, logically organized, and well-supported. The winner will be notified by March 31, 2008. To be eligible you must meet the following criteria: • Be a New Jersey resident New Jersey Militia, Heard’s Brigade Scholarship An electronic version of the cover letter and essay is requested to be sent to bkfaulks@aol.com Essays must be mailed by a school official (teacher, guidance
officer, school administrator) on behalf of the student along
with a cover letter on school letterhead that includes the
following details: The award for the New Jersey Militia, Heard’s Brigade Scholarship may be presented at the recipient’s School Awards Ceremony by a member of New Jersey Militia, Heard’s Brigade.
